Mechanical – Infrared Predictive Maintenance Programs

Mechanical failures are typically preceded by an increase in operating temperature due to friction. The thermal profile of a piece of rotating equipment can be carefully benchmarked and observed over time to identify any significant changes in temperature or smaller trends that may develop. Such changes may be an indication of failure. Using infrared thermography to trend mechanical equipment is a quick and cost effective way to establish a predictive maintenance program.

Colbert Infrared uses a database program called Thermal Trend – Lean DB that allows for routes of equipment to be established for testing and fast and accurate benchmarking of your critical rotating equipment. Subsequent routine inspection observations are easily recorded to create a history over time for each piece of equiment.  This allows the maintenance staff to monitor the correct operating temperature envelope for all the equipment and establish alarm levels particular to each piece of equipment.
